Without the right balance of voices (male bass, tenor and female voices) the sound can end up either boomy or thin. There are so many factors that can ruin a good recording like this. The mantra itself came from the heart, but well trained ears and a technical mindset were required to capture it properly. My comments in relation to this recording come from the perspective of an audio engineer rather than those of a music composer, but that's what this recording needed. Just get a group of people together, drop a microphone in front of them and hit 'record', right?īut like so many things in life that may appear to be simple on the surface, this Om Mantra recording required a lot more time, testing and technical expertise than you might expect. You'd think it would be easy to create a recording of a simple mantra like 'Om'.
